Let's join hands to manage our wastes- The 3 ‘Rs’ Campaign

DO YOU KNOW THAT?

According to the World Bank, the world currently generates approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of solid waste per year.Between 2002 and 2025, the global volume of generated solid is expected to increase from 0.68 billion tonnes to 2.2 billion tonnes, meaning the volume will more than triple in just over twenty years. In financial terms, solid waste management costs will increase from today’s annual US$205.4 billion to about US$375.5 billion in 2025.

Most of the wastes we throw away end up at the landfill which apart from being expensive to manage has so many adverse effects on our health and the environment.

WHAT THEN IS THE WAY OUT?

Reduce the amount of waste we create in the first place.
Reuse items as often as possible to put
less strain on the world’s finite resources.
Recycle appropriate man-made natural materials.
